In case you were wondering
Although we have a considerable amount of information about interventions within our website, we have provided a few of the most commonly asked questions and their answers below. Of course, any of our counselors and intervention specialists are available at anytime to help guide you. In addition, Kevin and David Lee, the founders of Intervention Services and Technologies, Inc. are also available to personally answer any questions that you may have. There are no trivial questions.
Why can't I just intervene myself?
Shouldn't I wait until he reaches his bottom?
Who should be involved in the intervention?
What if he doesn't go to treatment during the intervention?
What happens after the intervention?
Why do you have the word ' Technologies' in your company name?

- In most cases, if there was a family member influential enough to cause an alcoholic or addict to want to seek treatment, then it probably would've already happened. Unfortunately for most family members, the stronger the emotional connection to someone abusing harmful substances, the harder it is to exert some control over the situtation. What this means is that the more that you care the more difficult it can be to help, unless you are properly educated. In some cases, you can even do more damage than good without intending to. A family intervention uses the strengths already present within a family dynamic and teaches some new ones. Having an unbiased, qualified professional guiding you through this process can eliminate the frustration and mystery of your loved ones addiction.
- The unfortunate reality is that statistically most people addicted to drugs or alcohol don't actually get sober. Some get arrested, overdose, or die in car wrecks; but most just continue on until eventually their health gives out. Even the negative consequences of the addiction don't seem enough to stop them. The heroin addict who overdoses, is brought back to life and immediately goes out to get another bag of dope is a classic and all too familiar case. Even the alcoholic usually continues to drink after job loss, failed marriage, or repeated drunk driving arrests. Walk down the skid row of any city. Their families are still waiting for them to "reach their bottom". In the worse cases of methamphetamine addiction, by the time the addict reaches their bottom, they are clinically insane...permanent methamphetamine psychosis. Waiting for him to figure it out himself usually ends in failure. True success can begin with you. With our guidance, educating yourself, empowering yourself...you can make a difference.
- Basically anyone who has a personal, emotional, or business connection with the alcoholic or addict. Immediate family members, a few close friends and one or two extended family members is usual. It is recommended that anyone with a connection by a participant on the Family Consultation Day, whereas we generally thin things out for the actual Intervention Day. The average size of the team present at the intervention itself is anywhere between 3 to 9 people.
- Don't worry. Although only 10% of the clients that we deliver interventions on actually go onto the "tough love" or bottom-lines stage, we always prepare you for most any contingency. Our atitude is to hope for the best, but always prepare for the worst. And understand too, that the mindset you have today will be different after our Family Consultation Day.
- As we like to mention....we don't consider an drug or alcohol intervention actually over until your loved one achieves at least one year of continuous sobriety. Since we offer each family member lifetime support, we will continue to counsel and guide you while your loved one is in treatment, after he arrives back home, and in the months or even years afterwards.
- Because as defined in the dictionary, a technology is a "scientific method used to achieve an objective". Quite frankly, we are not amateurs. We know what we are doing. The mechanics of addiction, enabling, tough love and intervention are not a mystery to us. There is a definite scientific method that we use to achieve our results. We don't just "show up and talk them into rehab". We try and do considerably more than that.
