How much does an intervention cost? If you are looking around the web, calling different intervention companies and doing cost comparisons, you will have probably found that the cost for a professional intervention can range anywhere from $3500-$10000 among a variety of different intervention counselors, without giving you a clear understanding of what you get for that price.
You might also find that we are one of the few drug and alcohol intervention service providers to list our cost of intervention on our web site. That is because we were founded by a family and made to help families. We understand that with the financial strain associated with a loved one addicted to alcohol or drugs, often times financial difficulties can make recovery difficult. Due to this, we make sure that we deliver the most comprehensive service for the most cost-effective price. Although there can never be a price tag on the life of a loved one, we do not take advantage of an already stressed out family situation by inflating the cost of an intervention. Intervention Services is the largest Intervention Service Provider in North America and has conducted interventions for thousands of family members. Intervention Services is also one of the few Intervention Providers that is also a full service Continuum of Care Intervention Service Provider which enables us to manage a full spectrum of Services including but not limited to the intervention itself.
The cost of an Intervention should not include “hidden” fees.
An Intervention Cost should not include “high end” hotel stays, first class flights, or food costs. Our professional interventions are a minimum of 2 days (Family Consultation Day and the Intervention Day) and do not end until either your loved one agrees to treatment or you say that the intervention is over and we should move into tough love phase. Most of our interventions average 2 days, but it not uncommon to be there for several days.
The consultation fee for the Intervention itself is a flat rate of $4,800.00. In addition to this we charge for the cost of a flight and (usually) a single night stay in a hotel. We always try to get the least expensive economy class flight that fits in your schedule. We also insist on the most cost-effective hotel room. We like to joke that after an emotionally draining intervention consultation all we need is a roof and a bed. If you wish us to escort your loved one directly to treatment instead of taking them there yourself, we do charge an additional $400.00 plus flights and/or driving costs. We do require a deposit to guarantee services and accept certified check, money orders, and most major credit cards. We do not charge for food, amenities, or other “hidden” fees, and only utilize rental cars if you require it.
What is the difference between a professional interventionist and others?
It is very important that families understand that there is a major difference between a reputable professional intervention service and “person in recovery who is going to talk your loved one into treatment” especially in regards to price and qualifications. A small breakdown of the differences is listed below:
Professional Intervention Provider:
- Has conducted hundreds of interventions
- Focuses on either Johnson Model, Invitational, Systemic or S.M.A.R.T. Model based interventions with a goal beyond merely “getting someone to agree to rehab”
- Has several employees with a range of recovery related services
- Can provide at least 10 references from state licensed treatment centers
- Cost of services should range from $2500-$7500 plus expenses
- Has a brick and mortar office
- Incorporated, Insured, Registered and/or licensed or certified
- Has professional materials, handbooks and literature for family members demonstrating standard practices
- Has ability to provide ongoing services including and beyond interventions at all times. Case Management, Drug Monitoring, Sober Coaching, Family Reintegration, and Treatment Referral
Non-professional Intervention Provider (12 step call)
- Has no website
- Has no materials
- Is only practiced at temporarily convincing someone to agree to treatment
- Has no employees
- Claims many interventions, but is relatively unknown in the industry
- Has no office and works from home
- Cannot provide references beyond one or two local treatment centers, if any
- Is not registered, licensed, insured or incorporated
- Is limited to providing support only when not on another intervention
- Cost of Services should range from $100 to $500 plus expenses.
NOTE: The understanding within the industry is that this form of intervention is actually what is called a “twelve step call” in Alcoholics Anonymous and shouldn’t be charged for at all. If your potential interventionist falls into this category and is asking for a sum of money greater than the expenses or comparable to that of a professional interventionist, we strongly suggest you look elsewhere. Someone who falls into the non-professional interventionist category should never charge more than $500 for their services.
Requesting the Founders of Intervention Services
We have, at Intervention Services, our highest qualified Interventionists, including our founders, David and Kevin Lee. The Founders of Intervention Services are both available for various services to families, treatment centers, educators and social service organizations. Many of their services, lectures and presentations to the communities are offered free of charge with the exception of travel expenses. However, as Founders, the costs of a professional intervention guided by either David or Kevin Lee is $7500 plus expenses. If you desire both founders to come out and conduct a team family intervention, the cost is $10,000 plus expenses.
Financing an Intervention and/or Treatment
Intervention Services and Technologies, Inc. uses an outside finance company that can provide financial assistance through loans for families in need of intervention who be unable to completely pay for it in total.
